Congratulations to Vanessa Gilbert, winner of our 2025 Breast Cancer Survivor Giveaway!

Meet Vanessa, Director of Marketing at Terradepth, an ocean data company. She’s a wife, mom to two kids, and dog mom to two pups — a woman who’s always caring for everyone else. She’s also a Breast Cancer Survivor. For her photoshoot, I wanted to create space for her, a moment to slow down, breathe, and be cared for in return.

Throughout her breast cancer journey, Vanessa discovered a deep, quiet strength within herself. Not the kind that demands attention, but the kind that reminds us of how a flower can bloom in the desert, resilient, bright, and full of life. That was the vision we brought to life during her photoshoot.

Vanessa shared that “healing is about giving back,” and she hopes her story can positively impact others navigating their own journeys. She expressed that her body now feels like part of the greater breast cancer community — no longer just hers, but a symbol of shared strength and survival.

A special thank you to Cedar Rae Floral for donating your time and the beautiful floral arrangements. The vibrant blooms were an essential part of the vision. Jessica truly went above and beyond.

The second half of our giveaway is a restorative areola tattoo by Susan of Lasting Impression. Susan works to improve the aesthetic appearance of the breast by recreating a 3D image of the areola and nipple. Since many breast cancer survivors lost one or both areolas and nipples during surgery, the 3D tattoo can dramatically improve body image. Lasting Impression has a positive impact on clients, which ultimately boosts confidence and self-esteem.​
